Club Management
The main aim of Solway Orienteers club is to promote and encourage the sport of
Orienteering in the South West of Scotland. It has an approved constitution, policies
and procedures, a bank account, a committee that meets every two months and
through its affiliation to the British Orienteering Federation and Scottish Orienteering Association the club has appropriate
public liability insurance cover. The club financial year ends on 5th April. The Annual
General meeting is held in September.
The committee has a Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Child Protection Officer and other members
responsible for fixtures, membership, mapping and website, equipment,
press and publicity and social activities.

Coaches: The club has suitably qualified members able to coach.
Welfare and Safeguarding Officer: The club has in place a Welfare and Safeguarding Officer whose role includes taking the lead around any possible safeguarding or behavioral issues associated with Solway Orienteers activity. They are registered with
Children 1st's Child Protection in Sport to receive electronic updates on Child
Protection matters.

First Aid: The club has a basic first aid kit available at events and aims to have a
qualified First Aider present during all activities. The club incorporates guide lines for dealing with incidents / injuries and basic rescue plan in the risk assessment for each activity.
