Grid Reference NX 606 563
First surveyed in 1980, revised in 1990, 2001, 2009 and 2010.
Owned by Forest Enterprise.
This area is characterised by forested undulating terrain with
parts which are runnable and others less so. In early summer
swathes of bluebells cover the ground in some areas making this
one of the prettiest woods. On the debit side brambles can detract
from the enjoyment of parts of the wood. The map is dissected by
the Gatehouse of Fleet bypass: longer courses cross under this
busy road and the terrain encountered there is more physically
challenging as there is a reasonably steep hill and progress
through some of the undergrowth can be slower.
