  • If you take part in one of our events your name will appear in the results and be published on the web. Your name may also appear in the local newspaper reports.

  • We take photos at our events which may be used for promotion of the sport and club; including posting them on the web, displaying on local posters, illustrating club or national newsletters and accompanying newspaper articles. The club will not directly link juniors names to photographs.

  • If you have a pre⁃existing medical condition that you think an organiser of one of our events should know about should symptoms arise while orienteering, you can download a form on the following link. Medical form


  • MapRunF

    Solway Orienteers has set up some courses using an app called MapRunF. There are currently 5 courses in Dumfries & Galloway with more on the way. To find out more go to the WHAT'S NEW page of this web site.

    Summer series

    Mabie Forest near Dumfries.

    This event will be followed by a BBQ. All who take part are welcome to attend. If you have any specific dietary requirements please feel free to bring your own food.

    Courses on offer are
    Short
    Yellow, TD2 standard. Suitable for beginners and young families. The course is mainly on or close to paths and line features. Roughly 2 km
    Medium
    This course will be Light Green, TD4 standard and is suitable for those who have some orienteering experience. Roughly 3 km.
    Long
    Green, TD5 standard. Suitable for those who are experienced orienteers. Roughly 4 km.

    Parking for the event will be at the normal Mabie Forest car park. There is a charge for parking here unless you have an annual pass. Click here to see the location of the car park.

    The start times will run from 18:30 to 19:15. Courses close at 20:15.

    Pre-entries will close at 22:00 on Sunday 22nd June.

    We will order a small number of extra maps for entry at the event but to be sure of getting to run the course of your choice it's best to pre enter.

    The entry fees for members are £4 per adult and £2 per junior. Non members fees are £6 per adult and £3 per junior. Non members are welcome and there will be help on hand for anyone who is new to the sport to get started.
