Cream o'Galloway

Map of cream o' Galloway

Grid reference NX 593 512.

Produced in 2005 using OCAD. Updated 2012 and 2014

Cream o' Galloway is well known to the local population for its wonderful ice cream and its fun play areas :- Smugglers Warren, three D maze, flying fox and other slides. Now you can also enjoy your favorite sport here. Cream o' Galloway has the only permanent orienteering course in the south west of Scotland.
The mapped area is enclosed by fences which makes this an ideal location for school children and orienteers that are just launching out on their own.
Two permanent courses have been laid out. The first makes use of the excellent path ways which encircle the two lochs.
The second course is more challenging physically and technically. Controls are tucked away in the gently undulating terrain and for those who choose this course sticking to the paths is not an option. Beware of the nettles in the summer and expect to get a bit muddy and possibly wet if there has been recent rain.
