Grid reference
First surveyed in 1990 resurveyed and map extended in 1998. Partially updated 2013.
Moorland makes up most of the Keir Hills map but there are
some patches of woods as well. The contour details make for some
challenging orienteering as there are a number of parallel
features. This is a large area and quite fast pace can be
maintained by people fit enough to keep going on the hills.
There are very few line features on the map other than walls and
some of these are tall ones so careful note is needed of the
crossing points. The expanded map was first used for the 1999
Scottish Championships.
